Brest have edged away from the Ligue 1 drop zone thanks to a 2-0 victory at home to Lorient.
Eden Ben Basat opened the scoring on 14 minutes when he struck past Fabien Audard.
Lorient had the better chances after the interval through Jeremie Aliadiere, Gregory Bourillon and Gilles Sunu but they were unable to find the net.
Instead, the hosts sealed the win in the dying moments thanks to Charlison Benschop.
The victory has lifted Brest up to 13th place in the Ligue 1 table, while Lorient stay ninth.
