Matthew Upson's header smacks the crossbar as Brighton & Hove Albion are held by Peterborough United after 45 minutes at London Road.

Brighton & Hove Albion have gone agonisngly close to breaking the deadlock against Peterborough United in an entertaining first 45 minutes at London Road.

The visitors thought that they were ahead when Matthew Upson thundered a brilliant header towards goal, but it hit the bar and bounced out, with appeals that the ball had crossed the line quickly turned away.

Posh also had encouraging moments early on, with Danny Swanson forcing Tomasz Kuszczak into a smart stop with a powerful half-volley from distance.

Dwight Gayle also had an effort from close range blocked by Dean Hammond but both sides ultimately were frustrated in their search for the opening goal before the break.
