Brighton & Hove Albion name Chris Hughton as new manager

Brighton & Hove Albion name Chris Hughton as their new manager on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed the appointment of Chris Hughton as their new manager.

The former Newcastle United, Birmingham City and Norwich City boss has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Seagulls until summer 2018.

He replaces Sami Hyypia, who resigned last week after achieving just three wins since taking over in the summer.

Hughton has been out of work since Norwich sacked him towards the end of last season in April.

With Brighton just above the bottom three in the Championship, 56-year-old Hughton will be tasked with steering the Seagulls, who have reached the playoffs the last two seasons, away from the drop zone.
