Brighton & Hove Albion 'close to bringing back Stephen Ward'

Brighton are apparently close to agreeing the permanent signing of Wolves defender Stephen Ward, who impressed during a loan spell with the Seagulls last season.

Brighton & Hove Albion are expected to tie up a permanent deal for Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Stephen Ward.

The Republic of Ireland international spent last season on loan at the Amex Stadium as Wolves looked to trim their wage bill after being relegated to League One.

Kenny Jackett's side are now back in the Championship and had been tipped to use Ward this campaign, but Brighton are close to bringing him back to the club on a full-time basis, according to Sky Sports News.

Versatile full-back Ward started 44 times for the Seagulls on their run to the playoff semi-finals last term.

The 28-year-old has made 239 appearances for Wolves since joining them in 2007.
