Burnley lead Millwall at the interval, courtesy of Dean Marney's late first-half goal.
Millwall took the lead with 27 minutes on the clock, as Martyn Woolford's strike from the edge of the box flew past Burnley keeper Tom Heaton.
There was an immediate response from the Clarets courtesy of top-scorer Ings, who curled the ball into the top corner after a neat touch inside the opposition box.
As the game edged towards half time, Ings was brought down in the box with the referee awarding a penalty.
The striker brushed himself down before taking the spot kick, though Stephen Bywater got down well to save. However, there was still enough time for Scott Arfield to pick out Marney to fire Burnley into the lead.
