Preview: Burnley vs. Millwall

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between high-flying Burnley and struggling Millwall at Turf Moor.

Burnley have a chance to move back into the automatic promotion spots for a couple of days at least when they host Millwall at Turf Moor this Saturday.

The Clarets were recently displaced in the top two by Queens Park Rangers and missed their chance to move back above the Hoops last week when the two sides played out a 3-3 draw at Loftus Road.

However, with QPR not playing until Monday night, a win for Burnley would see them close the three-point gap and move into second by virtue of their superior goal difference.

To do that, they will have to end a run of three consecutive draws that have seen them drop six valuable points in recent weeks.

Sean Dyche's side have not lost in the league in 2014, however, and they could extend their unbeaten streak to seven matches on Saturday.

Burnley are the only remaining undefeated side at home in the Championship this season, while their tally of three defeats overall is also the best in the entire division.

Dyche should be able to field an unchanged side as he looks to maintain that record, with free-scoring duo Danny Ings and Sam Vokes again expected to lead the line.

At the other end of the table, Millwall are sitting perilously close to the relegation zone and could end the day in the bottom three if results go against them.

They are currently just two points from safety and would replace Charlton Athletic in the drop zone if they fail to win and the Addicks beat Birmingham City.

New manager Ian Holloway has made an inauspicious start to life in charge of the Lions, with one win, one draw and two defeats in his four matches at the helm.

One of his priorities in the aim to stay up will be to sort out his side's defence, which has leaked a league-high 54 goals in 28 matches so far this season.

Also on that priority list will be to improve the team's away form, which is the worst in the division as they have won just one match and managed seven points on the road.

Holloway will be hoping that his January signings have the desired impact, and Edward Upson is expected to be handed a debut in midfield alongside fellow new boy Shaun Williams.

Simeon Jackson, however, may be forced to make his debut from the bench, while the visitors will definitely be without Shane Lowry, who is suspended.
