Sean Dyche: 'Burnley showed Swansea City too much respect'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche claims that his side showed too much respect to opponents Swansea City, as the Welsh outfit secured a 1-0 win against the promoted Clarets.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has bemoaned his side's performance in their 1-0 defeat away at Swansea City, claiming that the Clarets showed their opposition "too much respect".

A first-half goal by Nathan Dyer made it two Premier League wins out of two for the Welsh outfit, while condemning the Lancashire outfit to a second defeat on their return to the top flight.

Dyche told BBC Sport: "It's disappointing that we didn't come away with anything, but you could see the growth from us. In the second half we were excellent.

"Sometimes when you are promoted you are wondering if you belong here. In the first half we showed them too much respect and at half-time I said 'go out and express yourselves'. The movement, energy and determination was good, but we have to learn quickly.

"You have to remember what you are and believe in what you are. We knew this would be a challenge, a difficult one, and we are enjoying the way the team are operating, but we need to get points on the board."

Burnley slip to the foot of the Premier League table, while Swansea climb to second.
