Tom Heaton: 'Burnley to take positives from season'

Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton insists that the team can take positives from their season, despite being relegated from the Premier League.

Tom Heaton has said that there are "an awful lot of positives" for Burnley to take from their season in the Premier League, despite the club being relegated.

The Clarets will head straight back to the Championship after just one year in the top flight, finishing 19th in the table.

The goalkeeper, who recently received his first England call-up, told the Lancashire Telegraph: "That foundation of being hard to beat is something we started very early on and it's been vital. I think we've done really well.

"Obviously we're disappointed to go down, especially considering how close we went, but we can take these positive things into next season and gain some momentum.

"We said all year we've not been cut adrift or been poor. There are an awful lot of positives to take from it. We certainly feel like we are building something special and that goes into starting again next year."

Hull City and Queens Park Rangers joined Sean Dyche's side in the bottom three.
