Sean Dyche proud of battling Burnley after Aston Villa draw

Sean Dyche says that he is proud of his Burnley troops for coming from a goal down to earn a point at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche hailed his Burnley side for coming from a goal down to earn a hard-fought point in this afternoon's 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Turf Moor.

Joe Cole's first-half strike looked to have done enough for the Villans, but Danny Ings converted an 88th-minute penalty to rescue a point for the hosts.

Burnley have now picked up seven points from their last three Premier League games, and Dyche says that the newly-promoted Clarets are slowly adapting to the rigours of top-flight football.

"Our framework, our energy and our desire was the most pleasing thing for us. 1-0 down in the Premier League is a hard task," he told BBC Sport.

"We are learning, we are developing and there were really good signs of that today. It was a really good reaction from the players. We stayed on the front foot, we kept working on our shape and believed the chances would come.

"The game was pretty even, but on the quality of the chances we created, you wonder how we haven't won it in the end."

The result means that Burnley stay in the relegation zone, but only on goal difference behind 17th-placed Hull City.
