Burton Albion shocked by Cambridge United

Cambridge United sink league leaders Burton Albion thanks to goals from Tom Elliott and Ryan Donaldson.

League Two leaders Burton Albion suffered their third defeat in four matches as they were beaten 3-1 by Cambridge United at the Pirelli Stadium this evening.

Striker Adam McGurk fired wide for the hosts in the opening 15 minutes, before Chris Dunn tipped a long-range Lucas Akins effort over the bar.

Cambridge United took the lead when Tom Elliott climbed highest to nod Harrison Dunk's cross beyond Jon McLaughlin in the Burton Albion goal.

The visitors doubled their lead after the break when Ryan Donaldson turned home another Dunk cross, before Elliott added his second on 76 minutes.

Akins grabbed a consolation goal on 82 minutes but the U's hung on to record their first win in four games.
