Malky Mackay committed to Cardiff City

Malky Mackay says that he is committed to Cardiff City despite back-room unrest in the Welsh capital.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay has said that he remains committed to the cause in the Welsh capital despite continued speculation regarding his future.

The Scot's position has come under scrutiny since the decision of owner Vincent Tan to replace head of recruitment Iain Moody with Magomed Abdulhamidov, an under-qualified friend of his son.

Despite the backroom unease, Mackay said that he hopes to remain in charge of the Bluebirds and steer them to safety this season.

"We are all working to ensure Cardiff City is again playing top-level football next season," Sky Sports News quotes the 41-year-old as saying. "I want to be talking to the media in a year's time as Cardiff City manager in the Premier League.

"We relish being in the Premier League in terms of players and fans. Our aim is to be the best we can be and finish as high as we can.

"I am proud to be manager here. We will keep moving forward and make sure everything we do is for the best of Cardiff City. I will always do my best and that will never change."

Cardiff, who play Aston Villa this afternoon, are 12th in the Premier League.
