Half-Time Report: Motherwell lead Celtic

A dramatic end to the half sees Motherwell lead Celtic 2-1 at the break in the Scottish Premiership.

Motherwell lead Celtic 2-1 at half time this afternoon in the Scottish Premiership.

Two goals in a minute at the end of the first half mean that the champions are still in the game.

Motherwell could barely have wished for a better start, taking the lead after just four minutes when Sutton collected a Stephen McManus pass and slotted the ball past Fraser Forster.

Celtic improved as Virgil van Dijk and Scott Brown missed chances before being given an excellent opportunity to get back on level terms when Iain Vigurs brought down Anthony Stokes inside the box.

Kris Commons stepped up to take the penalty but saw his effort saved by Gunnar Nielsen.

Celtic dominated thereafter and just as they began to settle for being one down at the break, Motherwell doubled their lead. Zaine Francis-Angol collected the ball following a corner and calmly finished with his right foot.

The visitors managed to keep themselves in it though, as a minute later, Stokes smashed the ball in after Brown's through-ball.
