Celtic avoid any SPL penalty for pro-IRA chants in a match against Hibernian but still face potential UEFA action on Thursday.

The Scottish Premier League have decided to take no action against Celtic after completing their review on pro-IRA chanting.

The chanting was heard in a game against Hibernian on October 29.

Although no action has been taken the SPL have said they have taken "all reasonably practical steps" to prevent further behaviour of a similar nature.

"It is not disputed that a small number of Celtic fans engaged in singing and chanting in support of the IRA," a statement read.

"Such behaviour is unacceptable and unwelcome at SPL matches."

The Glaswegian club could still face action from UEFA after similar chanting was heard in a Europa League match against Rennes on November 3.

The UEFA hearing occurs this Thursday.
