Stefan Scepovic: 'Celtic was my first choice'

Celtic deadline-day signing Stefan Scepovic insists that he is "happy" to have joined the club, despite his apparent U-turn.

Stefan Scepovic has insisted that signing Celtic was always his "first option", despite allegedly telling the club that he did not want to join them.

The 24-year-old became the Hoops' sixth signing of the summer when his transfer was confirmed late last night, just a couple of hours after a deal looked to have collapsed.

Despite Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell claiming that Scepovic had changed his mind regarding a move from Sporting Gijon, the striker says that he is "happy" with the deal.

"I never said that I don't want to come," the Serbian international is quoted as saying by The Scotsman. "In all transfers you have some problems but I don't want to look at what happened before. I just want to look at the future.

"My first option was always Celtic and I'm very happy that I'm here. The most important thing is that we finished everything. In one hour everything can change but I always said I wanted to come here and I'm sitting here now."

John Guidetti's proposed move to Celtic Park fell through, although the Scottish Premier League side will take the case to FIFA.
