Celtic's Neil Lennon: 'No progress in Leigh Griffiths talks'

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says that talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Leigh Griffiths are at a standstill.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has said that negotiations over the signing of Leigh Griffiths from Wolverhampton Wanderers are not progressing well.

The Scottish champions have pursued their interest in the 23-year-old striker despite having a bid rejected by the League One club earlier this week.

However, Leon Clarke's arrival at Wolves from Coventry City could pave the way for Griffiths to move to Glasgow.

"We're as we were yesterday," the Daily Mail quotes Lennon as saying. "No further movement on that either way. It (the Clarke deal) might push it on but we'll see what tomorrow and Friday brings. We are looking at other options as well.

"We do have other options for similar positions anyway. I'm not saying the move is dead but we do have other people in mind, not just for that position but other positions, too.

"There was [a problem with the fee] because it was rejected. Whether we go back again will be something we'll have to consider the next couple of days. Peter [Lawwell] does that side of things from our point of view. I'll speak to him tomorrow and see where we go."

Griffiths joined Wolves from Dundee in 2011.
