Australia boss urges Tom Rogic to leave Celtic

New Australia boss Ange Postecoglou advises Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic to leave Parkhead in order to secure first-team football.

New Australia boss Ange Postecoglou has advised Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic to leave Parkhead in order to secure the first-team football that he needs to boost his World Cup chances.

Rogic has started just two games for the Hoops this season and the 20-year-old has been linked with a loan move to Japanese club Vegalta Sendai.

Postecoglou believes that the J-League outfit would be a good destination for Rogic, who played under Vegalta coach Graham Arnold when he was in charge of Central Coast Mariners.

"I think that would be fantastic," Postecoglou told Fox Football Podcast on the prospect of Rogic moving to Vegalta on a short-term basis.

"Arnie knows him, we know Arnie is a fantastic coach... he's got the best out of Tommy and the J-League is a strong competition. I don't see why not.

"It's a World Cup year. There wouldn't be a player on the planet who is going to a World Cup who wouldn't for the next six months think the best move for him would be to play regular football."

Rogic has been capped eight times by Australia at senior international level.
