Wednesday's Major League Soccer predictions including Inter Miami vs. Columbus Crew

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Major League Soccer fixtures, including Inter Miami vs. Columbus Crew.

Charlotte FC vs. Orlando City (Thursday, 12.30am)

Charlotte FC head coach Dean Smith looks on on February 25, 2024© Reuters

Looking to extend their winning run to three matches, an in-form Charlotte FC will welcome strugglers Orlando City to the Bank of America Stadium on Wednesday for a MLS clash of massive importance.

The Crown's stellar spell of results recently continued with a narrow success over DC United on the weekend, whilst the Lions were bested by Western Conference challengers Los Angeles FC.

We say: Charlotte FC 2-1 Orlando City

With a sensational record at the Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte will be overwhelming favourites for Wednesday night's clash, but we feel that Orlando could cause the hosts some issues.

That being said, we do not expect the Crown to suffer only their second MLS defeat in nine matches, with Smith's side having enough quality to secure maximum points.

DC United vs. Atlanta (Thursday, 12.30am)

Aiming to bring an end to a worrying six-game winless run, DC United will welcome Eastern Conference strugglers Atlanta United to Audi Field on Wednesday for an all-important MLS clash.

The Black and Red were the latest victims of Charlotte FC's exceptional home record on the weekend, whilst the Five Stripes were forced to share the spoils at home with Houston Dynamo.

We say: DC United 2-1 Atlanta United

Although their worrying winless run remains intact, DC United have been relatively impressive in matches with Toronto and Charlotte over the past fortnight.

Atlanta are without a number of their first-team stars for the trip to Washington on Wednesday, and we feel that major absences will result in a narrow defeat for the Five Stripes.

Inter Miami vs. Columbus Crew (Thursday, 12.30am)

Inter Miami CF head coach Gerardo Martino reacts on February 24, 2024© Reuters

The feature matchup on Wednesday in Major League Soccer will see the Supporters' Shield leaders, Inter Miami, face the reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew at Chase Stadium.

An injury-time strike on Saturday gave the Herons a 2-1 triumph over the Philadelphia Union, while Columbus defeated New York City FC 3-2.

We say: Inter Miami 1-2 Columbus Crew

Miami have shown they can win without their star attackers, but they will be severely short at the back on Wednesday, which could spell trouble against one of the most dynamic attacks in the league.

Montreal vs. NY Red Bulls (Thursday, 12.30am)

CF Montreal can stretch their MLS unbeaten run to five matches when they host the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday at Saputo Stadium.

Last Saturday, the Canadians played to a 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake, with New York claiming that same result at home versus Nashville SC.

We say: CF Montreal 0-1 New York Red Bulls

The Red Bulls have been able to move on quickly after a disappointing result, and we believe they will be able to transition effectively against a Montreal side missing some key defensive midfielders.

Toronto vs. Nashville (Thursday, 12.30am)

Nashville SC can win an MLS encounter at BMO Field for the first time as their campaign continues on Wednesday when they face Toronto.

Over the weekend, the Reds conceded three second-half strikes, losing 4-1 to the Chicago Fire, while Nashville played to a 0-0 draw with the New York Red Bulls.

We say: Toronto 2-0 Nashville SC

The return of Bernardeschi and Insigne should provide a much-needed boost to the Toronto attack, which we believe will make them more dynamic in this encounter and turn their recent rough fortunes around.

Cincinnati vs. Philadelphia (Thursday, 12.45am)

Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin takes the field on February 25, 2024© Reuters

FC Cincinnati play host to Philadelphia Union on Wednesday evening looking for the win that would see them at least keep pace with Eastern Conference leaders Inter Miami.

Meanwhile, the visitors head into this contest looking to stay within the top seven in the standings after a poor run of form.

We say: FC Cincinnati 3-1 Philadelphia Union

Having only lost narrowly to Inter Miami, Philadelphia will feel that can trouble their hosts on Wednesday night. However, we can only back a convincing home victory, one that will keep the pressure on the leaders.

Austin vs. Los Angeles (Thursday, 1.30am)

Austin FC head coach Josh Wolff looks on on March 3, 2024© Reuters

In search of a seventh straight league victory, Los Angeles FC will travel to the Q2 Stadium on Thursday to take on Austin FC.

Thanks to their fine run of form, the visitors sit second in the Major League Soccer Western Conference standings and within touching distance of top spot, while their hosts have dropped to eighth spot following three consecutive defeats.

We say: Austin FC 0-2 Los Angeles FC

Los Angeles FC are in formidable form at both ends of the pitch with plenty of momentum on their side, and we can only envisage them extending that on Thursday against an Austin FC side stuck in a rut and slipping down the Conference.

Dallas vs. Minnesota Utd (Thursday, 1.30am)

FC Dallas midfielder Patrickson Delgado (6) reacts after scoring a goal on May 23, 2024© Reuters

Dallas will be looking to pick up back to back wins for the first time this term when they entertain the challenge of Minnesota United on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the away side head to the Toyota Stadium seeking to end a barren run of results which has seen them win just one of their last five matches.

We say: Dallas 2-1 Minnesota United

Both teams have struggled at the back this term and we expect neither to come away with a clean sheet here. That said, we are also tipping Dallas to just about get the job done come the end of the 90 minutes.

Houston vs. Seattle (Thursday, 1.30am)

Houston Dynamo FC head coach Ben Olsen looks on on March 24, 2024© Reuters

Two sides aiming to solidify their places in the MLS Cup playoff positions come together on Thursday at the BBVA Compass Stadium when Houston Dynamo host Seattle Sounders.

The home team are seventh in the Western Conference heading into this fixture, while the visitors occupy the final MLS Cup playoff spot thanks to a higher goal difference than Portland Timbers.

We say: Houston Dynamo 0-1 Seattle Sounders

Seattle have been the victors in each of the last four meetings between these two sides with all four matches being won by one goal margins, and we expect this to be the case once again here with a narrow victory for the away side.

Kansas vs. Salt Lake (Thursday, 1.30am)

Jake Davis celebrates his goal for Sporting Kansas City against Toronto on March 31, 2024© Reuters

Two sides at opposite ends of the Western Conference table square off on Wednesday as Sporting Kansas City play host to Real Salt Lake at Children's Mercy Park.

The Wizards secured a 1-0 victory when the sides met back in May and will draw inspiration from that performance as they look to secure back-to-back home wins for the first time since November.

We say: Sporting Kansas City 1-2 Real Salt Lake

Sporting Kansas City are in for another tough 90 minutes against a Real Salt Lake side who are unbeaten in 14 consecutive league games since March. Mastroeni's men have struggled for results on the road but we fancy them to claim all three points against the floundering hosts.

St Louis City vs. Colorado (Thursday, 1.30am)

St Louis City will be looking to snap their six-match winless run when they go head to head with Colorado Rapids to the CityPark Stadium on Wednesday.

The Rapids head into the midweek clash off the back of a comfortable victory over Austin FC and will aim to secure back-to-back wins for the first time since April.

We say: St Louis City 1-1 Colorado Rapids

Buoyed by their victory over Austin, Colorado Rapids will head into Wednesday's tie with renewed confidence as they look to put together a fine run of form. However, St Louis have lost just two of their 10 home matches across all competitions this term and we predict they will do just enough to force a share of the spoils.

LA Galaxy vs. NY City (Thursday, 3.30am)

Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Gaston Brugman© Reuters

New York City FC can hand the Los Angeles Galaxy their first home defeat of the 2024 MLS campaign when they visit Dignity Health Sports Park for the first time in over two years on Wednesday.

Over the weekend, the Galaxy defeated Sporting Kansas City 4-2, while the Boys in Blue were narrowly beaten 3-2 by the Columbus Crew.

We say: Los Angeles Galaxy 3-1 New York City FC

The Pigeons will be short-handed at the back with Ilenic and Gray unavailable, and facing a side with so much attacking depth with or without Puig might be too much for an inexperienced backline to handle.

Earthquakes vs. Portland (Thursday, 3.30am)

Portland Timbers head coach Phil Neville reacts on May 16, 2024© Reuters

Portland Timbers will look to extend their current unbeaten run to five games when they make the trip to play San Jose Earthquakes.

The hosts currently sit bottom of the Major League Soccer Western Conference, having only won three matches throughout the season.

We say: San Jose Earthquakes 0-2 Portland Timbers

Portland Timbers have been consistent recently, putting together some fantastic results that have allowed them to climb up the league table.

Considering the hosts are sat bottom of the league currently, it will be expected that the visitors should take all three points.
