Charlton Athletic will be bidding to continue their strong run of form in League One when they head to Crawley Town on Tuesday.

The visitors have picked up 10 points from their last four matches to sit fifth in the League One table, while Crawley are 22nd in the division, nine points behind 20th-placed Bristol Rovers.

Crawley were promoted to League One via last season's League Two playoffs, but the Red Devils have found it difficult to compete in the third tier this term, only picking up 30 points from their opening 35 matches of the season.

Rob Elliot's side are 22nd in the table, nine points from the safety of 20th position, so they are in a very difficult spot, especially considering that there are only 11 games left.

Crawley will enter this match off the back of a 1-1 draw against Reading, with that result ending a three-game losing run, but they have not managed to triumph in the third tier of English football since February 11.

The Red Devils have one of the worst home records in the league this season, only picking up 18 points from 17 games in front of their own supporters, while Charlton have 22 points from their 17 games on their travels.

Crawley have only faced Charlton on five occasions throughout history, recording three wins in the process, including a 2-1 success in the reverse fixture between the two sides back in December.

Charlton finished 16th in League One last season, but the Addicks have had an impressive 2024-25 campaign to date, picking up 60 points from 35 matches to occupy fifth, two points ahead of seventh-placed Huddersfield Town.

The Addicks are unbeaten since the middle of February, picking up 10 points from their last four matches, beating Exeter City, Leyton Orient and Barnsley before drawing 0-0 with Stockport County on Saturday afternoon.

Charlton have not been beaten by a team other than Birmingham in League One since the middle of January, and they are in good shape when it comes to making the playoffs, but an automatic promotion spot is surely beyond them.

Birmingham are set to win the league unless Blues collapse late on, leaving Wycombe Wanderers and Wrexham to potentially battle for second, although Stockport in fourth are not entirely out of the equation.

Charlton's only away win over Crawley came in the EFL Trophy in August 2017, and this will be just the second time that they have locked horns with the Red Devils in a league affair.

Team News

Will Swan has scored seven times in 35 appearances for Crawley this season, and there will again be a spot in the XI for the attacker, most likely in a wide position.

The home side did not pick up any fresh fitness issues against Reading on Saturday, but there is expected to be a change in midfield, with Panutche Camara's goal off the bench likely to earn him a position in the XI.

There are not expected to be any surprises in the side on Tuesday evening, with Tyreece John-Jules again set to lead the line, with the 24-year-old still searching for his first goal of the campaign.

As for Charlton, Miles Leaburn has 10 goals in 30 appearances for the club during the 2024-25 campaign, and there is once again expected to be a spot in the final third of the field for the striker.

Charlton have not reported any injury concerns from their goalless draw against Stockport, and it would not be a surprise to see the same side take to the field for this match.

Luke Berry has been another standout performer for the club this season, scoring six goals from midfield, and the 32-year-old is set to be joined in the middle by Greg Docherty and Conor Coventry.

Macaulay Gillesphey will also be a notable starter for the away side at the back.

Crawley Town possible starting lineup:
Wollacott; Radcliffe, Mullarkey, Barker; Adeyemo, Camara, Fraser, Anderson, Swan; Doyle; John-Jules

Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Mannion; Ramsay, Jones, Gillesphey, Edwards; Docherty, Coventry; Small, Berry, Campbell; Leaburn

We say: Crawley Town 0-1 Charlton Athletic

This will not be a walkover for Charlton, but the visitors can call upon the greater quality, and they will enter this match in excellent form. It may be a tight affair in terms of the scoreline, but we are expecting an away success on Tuesday night.
