Andre Schurrle: 'Chelsea must finish top in Champions League'

Andre Schurrle claims that it is vital for Chelsea to finish at the top of their group in the Champions League ahead of the match against Steaua Bucuresti.

Andre Schurrle has claimed that it is vital for Chelsea to finish at the top of their group in the Champions League ahead of their match against Steaua Bucuresti tonight.

The Blues have already made it through to the last 16, but they are likely to guarantee first place if they avoid defeat against the Romanians at Stamford Bridge.

Schurrle believes that Chelsea need to make sure of securing top spot in order to avoid the competition's strongest sides in the next round.

"A club like Chelsea always needs to be at the top of the table in the group stage of the Champions League because almost all the other big teams are first in the group, like Bayern [Munich] and Barcelona," he told the club's official website. "It's an important game that we need to win to be top of the table."

Schurrle has scored three goals in 16 games for Chelsea so far this season.
