Chelsea's young midfielder Oscar insists that the current side just need time together in order to fulfil their potential.

Chelsea midfielder Oscar has insisted that the current side need time to fulfil their potential after a mixed season.

The Blues face Manchester United in the FA Cup today, having been knocked out of the Champions League and slipping to fourth in the Premier League.

The Brazilian, though, maintains that the team are in transition and will come good eventually.

"It has been difficult this season because we are in this period of 'transition'," Oscar told The Guardian. "We've lost some important games, been knocked out of competitions we wanted to win.

"But we are a young team, a new team, with good players. Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, David Luiz, Ryan Bertrand, these are players who can help Chelsea become one of the greatest teams in Europe again.

"If we have three years to play together as a group, we will prove our quality. It's a question of time. The more games we play together as a group, the more we mature."

Chelsea face United at 4.30pm this afternoon.
