John Terry will play no part in Chelsea's Carling Cup tie at Everton.

Captain John Terry has been omitted from the Chelsea squad for this evening's Carling Cup tie with Everton following the FA's confirmation that they will be investigating alleged racist comments made by the defender.

In his place at Goodison Park is Brazilian Alex, while young English midfielder Josh McEachran also starts.

Louis Saha will play as a lone striker for hosts Everton, while Royston Drenthe starts his first match on home turf.

Everton: Mucha; Neville, Heitinga, Distin, Baines; Drenthe, Fellaini, Rodwell, Bilyaletdinov; Cahill; Saha

Chelsea: Turnbull; Ivanovic, Alex, Luiz, Bertrand; McEachran, Romeu, Malouda; Anelka, Lukaku, Kalou
