Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck admits that billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is more 'passionate' than ever since taking over at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has revealed that billionaire owner Roman Abramovich is “very much on top of things” at Stamford Bridge.

The Russian businessman, who became Chelsea owner in 2003, has injected a huge sum of money into the London club since his arrival.

The club’s chairman is adamant that the 44-year-old has a “passion” for the game, and continues to keep track of the team’s progress on the pitch.

"I would say that his passion for Chelsea has increased not decreased,” Buck said in the Daily Telegraph. “His passion for football has increased, not decreased.

"His knowledge of football has increased exponentially. It would be pretty hard to name a current footballer that he couldn't give you statistics for.

"He doesn't miss a game in the sense that wherever he is in the world he watches the Chelsea game. He calls [club director and associate] Eugene Tenenbaum or whoever after the game and they talk about it. He is very much on top of things."

Meanwhile, Chelsea prepare to face Fulham at Stamford Bridge in the Carling Cup third round tonight (Wednesday).
