Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has hinted that Roberto Di Matteo may be snubbed for the full-time job as manager.
The Italian has led the Blues to an FA Cup triumph and the final of the Champions League, but a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League may have sealed his fate.
Buck revealed that neither he nor Roman Abramovich were happy with this season's performance in the league and said that they will be working to ensure it never happens again.
"We do not consider that to be satisfactory and Roman and the board will be working over the summer to try to ensure that doesn't happen again.
"We were all very disappointed with the result on Tuesday night in Liverpool. We just couldn't get into the game, and we played to Liverpool's tune.
"But if we had the choice to win the FA Cup final or Tuesday night's game, I know which one I would have picked. So, in that sense, I am satisfied."
Di Matteo took over the job following Andre Villas-Boas's departure.
