Roberto Di Matteo plans on pushing David Luiz and Gary Cahill hard in training in a desperate bid to get them fit to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has said the he will push defensive duo David Luiz and Gary Cahill in training to get them match fit for the Champions League final.

The Blues take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on May 19 in the final of Europe's elite competition but find themselves struggling for cover at the back.

John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic will miss the clash due to suspension, while both Luiz and Cahill are struggling with hamstring injuries.

However, the Italian remains hopeful that both defenders will be fit enough to marshal the defence this Saturday.

"They are getting better day by day and we are going to try to push them on from tomorrow," Di Matteo told the club's official website.

"We are going to try to push them this week in training and see how far we can take them."

Cahill suffered his injury during Chelsea's semi-final victory over Barcelona.
