Didier Drogba: 'I'm not retiring this summer'

Didier Drogba hints that he wants a contract extension at Chelsea after stating that he will not be retiring in the summer.

Veteran Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has revealed that he has no intention of retiring from the game just yet.

At 37, Drogba is thought to be in the twilight of his glittering career, with his contract at Stamford Bridge scheduled to expire this summer.

The Ivorian led the line in Sunday's 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers in the absence of Diego Costa and Loic Remy, and earned praise from manager Jose Mourinho for his performance.

Asked if he has thought about his future, he told ITV Sport: "Yes I have and it's not going to be my last season."

With Chelsea seven points clear at the summit, Drogba is on the verge of winning a fourth Premier League title, having won it three times during his first spell in West London from 2004 until 2012.

The former Marseille man has won 11 major honours with the Blues in total - including a Champions League title in 2012.
