Ruud Gullit: 'Chelsea should be disappointed with Sunderland display'

Former Chelsea player and manager Ruud Gullit believes that the Blues were predictable and slow paced in their goalless draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Ruud Gullit feels that Chelsea should be disappointed with their level of performance in their 0-0 draw against Sunderland.

The Blues dropped two points in their quest for the Premier League title as they were stifled by a stubborn Black Cats display at the Stadium of Light.

Gullit believes that his former club were predictable by playing right into Sunderland's hands, and feels that their recent exploits in the top flight and the Champions League may have caught up with them.

He told Sky Sports News: "They have to be disappointed with their own performance, especially tactically. Everybody was inside all game and it was exactly what Sunderland wanted, it was easy for them.

"Of course they had to make an effort and be disciplined but you can't say to Sunderland, 'you have to play attacking football', because they are not as good as Chelsea.

"Chelsea were slow-paced, with no width at all and only six attempts on target. Perhaps because they played three times in a week they could have been a bit tired."

The Blues lead the top flight standings by seven points from second-place Southampton.
