Ian Wright thinks that talk of Chelsea sacking Andre Villas-Boas is "nonsense".

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright thinks that it is too early for Andre Villas-Boas's job at Chelsea to be under threat.

The ex-Porto manager has come under fire after a string of disappointing results, including a 2-1 loss to rivals Liverpool on home turf at the weekend.

"If Sunday's defeat to Liverpool showed anything, it's that he has to display his ruthless streak now," Wright wrote in The Sun. "By that I mean making decisions which, while they won't please everyone, are absolutely vital to change things around.

"He's had to deal with a lot of stuff off the field a new manager certainly wouldn't expect at this stage and there are a lot of strong personalities in the dressing room.

"But all this talk of Villas-Boas's future is nonsense right now. For he HAS to be given time to build his own team, to buy his own players and to do things his way."

The Blues will try to continue their run in the Champions League with a group match against Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow.
