Loic Remy has said that although replacing Diego Costa is a difficult task, he will "give 100%" to fill the void left by the Spaniard.
Costa was given a three-game ban after being found guilty of violent conduct by the Football Asociation, leaving Jose Mourinho with the choice of Radamel Falcao or Remy as his striking options.
Remy scored in Chelsea's 4-1 League Cup victory over Walsall as he started alongside Falcao, and the Frenchman has said that he hopes to lead the line against his former side Newcastle United on Saturday.
"When we play for Chelsea it's a question of giving the best - 100% - so of course I will do the best I can," he is quoted as saying by ESPN.
"I think we will miss [Costa] because we know how important he is for the team, but we are all focused on winning games. Whoever is on the pitch we will try to do the best we can. Of course it's a shame for us to lose him.
"Whoever is on the pitch will give their best. It's my old club so it's always a pleasure to play against them. The manager will decide and pick 11 players, we'll see on Saturday."
Remy scored 14 goals in 26 appearances during a loan spell with Newcastle in 2013-14.
