Jose Mourinho expects Chelsea to challenge for Premier League title

Jose Mourinho admits that Chelsea are title contenders after playing down his side's chances throughout last season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is confident that his team will challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Blues are the overwhelming favourites to be crowned champions after signing Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Filipe Luis this summer.

Last season, Mourinho played down Chelsea's chances of bringing title glory back to Stamford Bridge, and while the Portuguese coach does not believe that they are favourites, the ex-Real Madrid coach believes that they are in the race.

"Yes we are a title contender," Mourinho said in today's press conference. "If you want me to say we will win the league I can't, because I respect this competition."

Chelsea have also welcomed back goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has spent the last three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid.
