Jose Mourinho: Pedro "played well" on Chelsea debut

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho praises Pedro for adapting quickly at the club after marking his debut with a goal during the 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Jose Mourinho has praised Pedro's performance after he scored against West Bromwich Albion during his debut for Chelsea.

The Spaniard, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona earlier this week, scored the opening goal in the Premier League champions' 3-2 victory over the Baggies this afternoon.

The manager told BBC Sport: "Pedro played well. We know he is a good player, more than good. There are lots of top players who come to the Premier League and it takes time to adapt but it looks like he has been with us for a long time because straight away he was in the game and he was important.

"A hard worker? This is Pedro. I played in the same league (in Spain) as him for three years so I know him well. This is why for so many years he wins cups and plays for one of the top teams in the world. Everyone who has shared a dressing room with him speaks well of him."

Chelsea, who secured their first win of the season in the match, finished the game with 10 men after captain John Terry was sent off early in the second half.
