Manuel Pellegrini: "The best team didn't win"

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini claims that "the best team didn't win" after his side were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that "the best team didn't win" after watching his side lose 1-0 to Chelsea on Monday night.

Branislav Ivanovic's first-half strike was enough to end City's 100% record at the Etihad Stadium, but the Chilean coach believes that his side deserved more from the game.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "The best team didn't win, we had a lot of players out.

"People like Javi Garcia, Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho, a lot of things that affected the result.

"We lost against a good team and Chelsea played very well, but I thought we deserved a draw because we had the chances to score, but we didn't take them."

City are currently second in the Premier League.
