AC Milan reportedly remain keen to bring Chelsea manager Antonio Conte on board at the end of the season, as they prepare for life after Vincenzo Montella.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte remains AC Milan's top managerial target to replace Vincenzo Montella at the end of the campaign, according to a report.

The 48-year-old's long-term future at Stamford Bridge has been shrouded in doubt in recent months, despite lifting the Premier League title in his maiden campaign in English football.

Conte is said to be unhappy with life in England and wants to return to his Italian homeland sooner rather than later, putting Milan - among others - on red alert.

Sky Sport News suggests that the Rossoneri are still desperate to land the former Juventus manager, having missed out on him in the summer when he instead decided to stay on at Chelsea by agreeing improved terms.

Montella is under pressure at San Siro and is understood to be living on borrowed time, with a caretaker boss rumoured to have been lined up to see out the season before an official approach for Conte is made.

Milan spent over £200m in the summer to bring in a number of high-profile names, including former Juve defender Leonardo Bonucci, but they have lost four of their last six league games and are 12 points off top spot.
