Robbie Savage criticises Didier Drogba's "embarrassing" diving following Chelsea's first-leg win over Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage has urged Didier Drogba to cut diving out of his game following the Chelsea striker's performance during the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

The 34-year-old scored a vital goal in the Blues' 1-0 win over Barca in the first leg at Stamford Bridge last night, but the Ivorian did face criticism for appearing to dive on a number of occasions throughout the clash.

"Every time he went down, [I just thought] it was embarrassing," Savage told BBC Sport. "[He's a] fantastic player - top drawer. On his day he is unplayable, you can't get near him.

"The guy is a fantastic player but his theatrics for a guy so big are embarrassing and there were a couple of times [when I played against him] when I did nail him in a tackle and the odd scream would come out, which was again, embarrassing.

"For all his attributes - his pace, his power, his goals. One thing he should be embarrassed about is his theatrics. Ridiculous Drogba!"

Chelsea will have to hold on to their result when they head to the Nou Camp for the return leg next week.
