John Terry: 'Diego Costa one of nicest guys in football'

Atletico Madrid-bound striker Diego Costa is "one of the nicest and funniest guys" in football, according to his former Chelsea teammate John Terry.

Former Chelsea skipper John Terry has wished Diego Costa well at Atletico Madrid, describing the striker as 'one of the nicest guys in football'.

The Spain international is expected to finalise terms with Atleti at some point over the weekend, bringing an end to his three-year spell in West London.

Costa won the EFL Cup and two Premier League titles during his time with the Blues, playing a pivotal role in both top-flight successes by top scoring for the club.

Despite the animosity between the 28-year-old and Chelsea over the past nine months or so, Terry only had good words to say about his ex-teammate.

"Good Luck @diego.costa in your next journey my friend," he posted on Instagram. "An unbelievable player and one of the nicest and funniest guys I have met in football, playing against him in training and games was an absolute nightmare, one of the best and underrated players I have played with and against.

"He gave everything for our club every time he wore a Chelsea shirt and was a born winner. Going to miss you mate. Good luck to you and your family."

Costa will remain in limbo until January as Atletico are currently unable to register new players due to a FIFA transfer ban.
