Former England defender John Terry leaves Wembley after giving evidence to an independent panel regarding his alleged racist comments to Anton Ferdinand.

Chelsea captain John Terry has left Wembley Stadium after the first day of his Football Association hearing.

The 31-year-old requested a personal hearing once he had learned that the FA had charged him with improper conduct following allegations that he racially abused Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand last October.

Terry arrived at the home of English football at around 9am this morning and is believed to have given evidence in front of an independent panel.

Prior to the hearing, the centre-back called time on his England career yesterday evening, citing his ongoing situation as a major contributing factor.

There is currently no timescale as to how long Terry's case will last. A similar case involving Liverpool striker Luis Suarez went on for four days earlier this year.
