Marquinhos relishes David Luiz battle

PSG defender Marquinhos says that he is relishing the prospect of competing with David Luiz for a starting berth next season.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos is relishing the prospect of competing with David Luiz for a starting berth next season.

The Chelsea defender has all but sealed a £40m move to the French capital, and his compatriot is fully aware of the task he is facing in order to earn first-team football with les Parisiens.

"He is a great guy and a great player. Besides, I think he made the right choice by committing to PSG," Marquinhos told Le Parisien.

"Now when you see players like David Luiz arrive, it looks even more difficult for me but I'm happy in my head and I will work more."

On Saturday, the Brazil international paid tribute to the Blues for the "great partnership" he forged with them in West London.
