Report: Chelsea eye up £20m-rated John Stones as John Terry replacement

Chelsea weigh up a £20m move for highly-rated Everton defender John Stones as a long-term replacement for the ageing John Terry, according to reports.

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Everton defender John Stones.

Stones, 20, has emerged as a positive in an otherwise disappointing season for the Toffees and netted his first goal in the 3-0 win over Manchester United in April.

Despite John Terry's heroics in captaining the Blues to Premier League glory, manager Jose Mourinho is wary over how long the 34-year-old can maintain that high standard.

Consequently, Mourinho is on the hunt for the skipper's long-term successor and has identified Stones, according to The Metro.

However, the report goes on to state that a switch would cost the newly-crowned champions somewhere in the region of £20m.

Stones, who turns 21 later this month, is contracted to the Merseyside club until 2019.
