Sampdoria have confirmed an interest in signing Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma this summer.
The 20-year-old enhanced his burgeoning reputation with a series of mature defensive displays in what was his first season at Stamford Bridge last term.
Zouma, who joined the Blues from Saint-Etienne in January, 2014, also earned praise for his versatility after plugging gaps in central midfield occasionally.
President Massimo Ferrero told Sky Sport Italia: "I'm trying to get Zouma from Chelsea.
"I spoke with [Jurgen] Klopp, [Roberto] Di Matteo, [Unai] Emery and [Maurizio] Sarri, who told me that they want a team who can play football, but I've got a physical side and I want players like the ones Zenga told me about.
"I've already signed [Niklas] Moisander and I'm getting Zouma because they are physical players."
The Frenchman is contracted to the Premier League champions until 2019.
