Mike Magee scored two first-half penalties to hand Chicago Fire a 2-1 victory over 10-man Sporting Kansas City this evening.
The hosts took the lead after just seven minutes when Magee was handed his first chance to convert from the spot, making no mistake as he swept his effort past Eric Kronberg.
It was 2-0 less than 10 minutes later as Chicago were awarded their second penalty of the evening, and once again Magee stepped up and finished to double his side's advantage.
Sporting KC's hopes of getting back into the match took a big blow shortly after the hour mark as Erik Palmer-Brown received his marching orders courtesy of a second yellow card.
However, the visitors pulled a goal back just four minutes later as Dominic Dwyer latched on to Benny Feilhaber's free kick to nod past Sean Johnson.
They couldn't find the equaliser in the closing stages, though, as Chicago held out for just their second win of the season to move up to seventh in the Eastern Conference.
