Alan Pardew eyeing marquee Crystal Palace signing

Alan Pardew suggests that he is looking to sign a big-name player for Crystal Palace this summer.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he is looking to land a marquee signing in a bid to boost the club's global profile.

Pardew took over the Eagles at the turn of the year and has guided the South London club to safety in his first season in charge.

However, the ex-Newcastle United coach has suggested that he is looking to lift Palace to the next level and may sign a big-name player to help boost their chances.

He told The Mirror: "Maybe that is a solution to not just give us a better media standing than we have, but to also give everybody else here the recognition in terms of their value that we could attract a player of that type. That is something I have thought about.

"This club has done a great job in the last three to four years to grow and now we need to take the next step. The most important thing is the value. It is not about the figure and a big player. It's about how good is the player.

"I think if it is the right player we have got a good case of going to the board and with finances we have, to say: 'Is this within reach?' And then let them make them that decision."

Palace are currently 11th in the Premier League table.
