Steve Round has stated that he had a "simple decision" to make when he was offered the opportunity a return to Derby County as a coach.
Rams head coach Steve McClaren invited the former Derby player to spend a day working with the first-team squad before Christmas.
Round, who was part of McClaren's coaching staff with Middlesbrough and England, is now expected to take up a part-time coaching role at Derby.
"I went in and worked with the forwards and attacking players and I really enjoyed it," Round told the Derby Telegraph.
"He [McClaren] said to think about going in one or two days a week and it was a simple decision to make. It's my hometown club and I am a big fan of Derby County."
Round has also coached at Manchester United, Everton and Newcastle United.
