Mark Duffy scores late winner for Doncaster Rovers

Doncaster Rovers score a late goal to see off Yeovil Town despite having goalscorer Dean Furman sent off.

Doncaster Rovers have beaten Yeovil Town with a late goal from Mark Duffy, despite finishing the match with 10 men.

The first chance of the night fell to the home team. Duffy controlled a throw-in with his chest and then skipped past Ed Upson. He aimed for the far corner, but saw his shot blocked by Shane Duffy.

Donny's promising start then got much better as Dean Furman put them in the lead. The South African international was fed the ball by Federico Macheda and placed it into an empty net for his first of the season.

Yeovil came back into the game after that with a succession of corners. Joe Ralls then spurned one of their better chances, firing over Ross Turnbull's crossbar. Fraser Fyvie then tried his luck with a low free kick that Turnbull held.

By this point of the half, Donny's attacks were becoming more sporadic, although Duffy almost slipped in Theo Robinson.

Just before the break, however, the Glovers were level. Former Donny defender Byron Webster was in the right place at the right time to slot in from Shane Duffy's knockdown.

Mark Duffy had an early second-half chance, holding off two challenges before playing in Paul Quinn, whose shot was saved by Chris Dunn.

Dunn was required to save again a minute later as Duffy's free kick bounced through and took a slight deflection off Luke Ayling.

James Coppinger, a substitute for David Cotterill, went over in the box under the close attention of Liam Davis, but the referee rejected his appeals for a penalty.

Doncaster were then reduced to 10 men when Furman was sent off for a professional foul on Upson. However, Paul Dickov's side took the lead just two minutes later when Mark Duffy curled a shot into the bottom corner.

Yeovil pushed for a second equaliser and Kevin Dawson stood up a cross that reached James Hayter. However, the latter's header was well saved.

Ralls had an even better chance deep into stoppage time but could only slice the ball wide.
