Draw crowns Elche Segunda Division champions
Elche will be promoted to La Liga as Segunda Division champions following their 1-1 draw with Real Madrid Castilla this afternoon.

Elche have secured the Segunda Division title, drawing 1-1 with Real Madrid this afternoon.

The Alicante side, who secured their promotion to La Liga earlier this month, found themselves trailing after a scrappy start to the match, with Fabinho firing the ball in with a left-footed effort from close range.

The league leaders were back on level terms early in the second half, as David Generelo headed in from a corner in the 55th minute.

Chances were at a premium for much of the second half, with neither side threatening to add a winning goal.

The result leaves Elche seven points clear of second-placed UD Almeria while Castilla move up to ninth.
