Matt Le Tissier thinks that Stuart Pearce has a lack of experience to take on the England managerial role full-time.

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier has admitted that he would be "surprised" if Stuart Pearce were offered the England managerial role on a full-time basis.

Pearce was appointed interim coach for England's international friendly against the Netherlands tonight and the Under-21s coach has expressed his desire to coach the team in the European Championships.

"I'd be surprised if Stuart Pearce was to get the job full-time," Le Tissier told talkSPORT. "He lacks experience.

"His managerial record hasn't been great and there are more experienced managers, who are better equipped to do the job."

The English governing body have revealed that there have been no approaches to prospective managers for the permanent position.
