England manager Roy Hodgson has said that Luke Shaw has earned his place in the squad for next week's friendly against Denmark.
The Southampton left-back has been called up to the senior England side for the first time, having made three appearances for the Under-21s.
"Anyone who has watched him play would not deny he deserves a place," Hodgson told BBC Sport.
"I think it was the right moment to invite him along with us. We are very well off in this position but he wants to compete for a place on the plane to Brazil."
Shaw has made 49 league appearances for Southampton since making his debut in November 2012.
