Mark Noble backs Aaron Cresswell, James Tomkins to get England chance

West Ham United captain Mark Noble believes that Aaron Cresswell and James Tomkins deserve England call-ups.

West Ham United captain Mark Noble has claimed that Aaron Cresswell and James Tomkins should be considered for England.

The duo were overlooked by manager Roy Hodgson when he selected his 23-man squad for friendlies against Spain and France.

Noble, who is also yet to receive an international call, believes that Cresswell and Tomkins have been crucial in the Hammers' impressive start to the season, which has put them sixth in the Premier League table after 12 games.

"I have been surprised Cresswell hasn't been in the England squad since I have been here," The Mirror quotes Noble as saying. "Cress and Tomks actually, they have both been great.

"You see Tomks's last few performances especially against Chelsea and Everton, against top, top players have both been really good.

"It's not my decision, Roy Hodgson and his staff have got their players that they want involved and that's it. It's for the boys to break into that team. I have got no doubt in the quality they have got and hopefully they will do soon."

England will face Spain in Alicante on Friday before playing France at Wembley four days later.
