As expected, Fabio Capello has named captain John Terry in the England squad for the friendlies against Spain and Sweden, despite the racism allegations being made against the Chelsea star.
There are also debut call-ups for Jack Rodwell and Daniel Sturridge, who have been promoted from the under-21 squad.
Rodwell is being tipped to feature in central midfield in the two fixtures next week, with Steven Gerrard, Jack Wilshere and Tom Cleverley all absent through injury.
Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has been awarded a recall after producing some fine recent performances for Alex McLeish's side.
The pacey forward scored and twice assisted Darren Bent during Villa's 3-2 victory over Norwich yesterday.
Meanwhile there is still no place for defender Rio Ferdinand or his Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, as England attempt to prepare for the talismanic striker's absence during the European Championship group stages.
Micah Richards, Andy Carroll and Jermain Defoe are all also left out, while Ashley Young will miss the games through injury.
