Former England striker Alan Shearer is anticipating a comfortable Three Lions win against San Marino.

Former England striker Alan Shearer has said the he expects the national team to sweep San Marino aside in this Friday's World Cup qualifier at Wembley.

The ex-Newcastle United favourite dismissed the notion that the Three Lions' next opponents could be a potential banana skin, and is anticipating a "comfortable" win.

He told BBC Sport: "There are no easier games than San Marino, are there? Let's face it, we should go there and win comfortably whatever team the manager chooses to put out.

"As a centre forward, you want to play in games like that because there's goals on offer.

"Whether it's Defoe, Wellbeck, Rooney or Carroll, all those four will want to be out there because the balls will be raining into the box and there will be chances flying around."

England go into Friday's fixture in third place in Group H, level on points with Poland and the Ukraine, with a win and a draw from their opening games.
