Sergio Garcia wants Espanyol stay

Experienced forward Sergio Garcia wants to sign a new long-term deal with Espanyol.

Experienced forward Sergio Garcia has revealed that he wants to sign a new long-term deal with Espanyol.

The 30-year-old, who scored 12 times for his club in the 2013-14 season, has just one year remaining on his current deal with the Spanish outfit.

A number of clubs are believed to be monitoring proceedings, but the striker has insisted that he wants to remain in Barcelona.

"There's still nothing new yet and my aim is that something happens in the next few days," Inside Spanish Football quotes the Spaniard as saying.

"I still have a year left on my current contract, the club needs to make a proposal and we'll see where we are from there. I hope that it's something positive and I can stay here."

Garcia joined Espanyol from Real Betis in 2010.
