Everton defender Leighton Baines backs teammate Yannick Bolasie to recapture his pre-injury form.

Everton defender Leighton Baines has backed teammate Yannick Bolasie to regain the form he showed before a knee injury sidelined him for more than a year.

The Congolese winger returned to action on Boxing Day 2017 and has scored one league goal since.

Baines, however, believes that Bolasie will continue to regain form if Everton keep on playing him.

"Yannick is another player who has been disrupted with his injuries and such a long layoff," Baines told the club's official website.

"When you have that type of injury it is always going to take you a bit of time to get back up and running and get your legs back under you.

"He has started to do that and is someone I know, that if I give him the ball, I just have to support him from behind. He is good to play with. He is always a threat for us and keeps the opposition full-backs busy."

Everton are back in Premier League action next Monday when they play host to Newcastle United.
